Mehrangarh Fort, Jodpur

Most forts and palaces have been cleared of their trappings and furnishings. In the resulting sterile environment, it is difficult to envision the once sumptuous life of the princes. While touring Mehrangarh Fort in Jodpur, our guide led us into a small room where an exhibit of modern Indian art was displayed. When I turned around, I saw a bed placed before these windows and for once had an inkling of how life was lived in the forts and palaces.
