Amar Jyoti are two Sanskrit words that together mean "Eternal Flame". With the mission of eradicating darkness from the lives of the less privileged, Amar Jyoti enables disabled children to conquer their anxieties and fear to grow into well developed personalities. To accomplish the vision of equality and dignity, the beneficiaries participate on equal terms with the non-disabled world.
Amar Jyoti, a charitable trust, was established in July, 1981. It provides comprehensive educational and medical services fee of charge in over thirty urban slum areas in New Dehli. Vocational training is provided in computer technology, fashion design, textile design, carpentry, and secretarial practice, among others. The target population is people with disabilities anywhere in India. Activities include education, medical services, community based rehabilitation, vocational training, camps throughout India, child guidance, and academic research.
