The Indo International School was started by the students and staff of State University of New York-Oneonta (SUNY-Oneonta). The school started with 40 children and two teachers and was housed in the former stable of the Dundlod Fort. The fort itself now serves as a hotel. The school had dirt floors, slates and chalk, and benches that served as desks.
In 1999, a French tourist who visited Dundlod while on a camel safari, donated $25,000 for a new school building. Today, the school has 160 children, four teachers, and four classrooms.
