While India's constitution guarantees primary education to age 14, it is not universal throughout India. In remote areas of India, girls are not educated to the same level as boys. Young girls often work in the home tending to younger siblings or help in the fields. India has the largest population of non-school-going working girls in the world.
In this URMUL residential camp for girls near Bikaner, the girls leave their homes and go to camp for six months at a time to receive more education. Here the girls are given special attention and an educational foundation not otherwise available to them.
